180-Acres of Possibility, Thousands of Lives Transformed Already
We offer equine-assisted learning across two welcoming and accessible properties in Nicasio, CA.
Since our inception in 1977, we have offered equine-assisted services and adaptive riding to individuals who have historically been marginalized due to disability. Although the industry was just emerging, it was clear horses had the power to breakthrough walls, expand horizons, and help our riders experience independence, freedom, and joy.
Although we have grown in structure, land, and vision, our commitment to breaking barriers has remained the heart of our mission to this day. With our recent acquisition of RockRose Ranch (our second campus), we are poised once again to reimagine, recreate, and redefine our role as leaders in adaptive riding and equine-assisted personal development.
This vision is large but has the potential to serve our community in new and exciting ways. Help us Reimagine RockRose!

Supplemental Services
A Peek Inside
Behind the scenes Halleck Creek Ranch takes many hands and hoofs to bring our services to life. Those include a slew of over 20 full and part times staff, over 30 horses, and hundreds of volunteers coming weekly (sometimes twice a week) to assist as sidewalkers, horse leaders, grooms, and facilities caregivers. It's a vibrant community of those with a shared mission, to spread joy, kindness, and independence through horses.
Additionally as a non-profit, we raise money from countless donors who share our vision so that we can offer scholarships through our Breaking Barriers fund to make programs accessible to all. Only 16% of our lesson costs are paid by rider families.
That means we need all the help we can get to offset our true cost of offering each lesson. Halleck Creek is truly brought to life from the kindness and generosity of others. It is no small feat that we have sustained decades of growth through the many challenges and victories along the way.
Want to join our community? There are always opportunities to get involved.

“Halleck Creek Ranch has been a cornerstone of our family’s life since our son began horseback riding here at the age of two. From the very beginning, the place has served as a sanctuary, a peaceful haven where we can escape the demands of daily life with special challenges and find comfort in nature, the gentle presence of horses, and the unwavering support of the community.”
Grason
Volunteer
“What stood out wasn’t just the horses. It was how welcoming everyone was. I felt at home immediately. I thought I was coming for the horses, but I fell in love with the riders. Seeing their growth each week is so rewarding. One rider even painted me a picture; it’s on my fridge.”
