About
Since 1977, Halleck Creek Ranch has supported children and adults with disabilities in living a life without barriers through equine-assisted services. Our programs, including Adaptive Horseback Riding and Equine-Assisted Learning, offer powerful physical, emotional, and mental benefits, while also providing meaningful access to the natural world and rugged terrain that might otherwise be out of reach.
Each week, participants and volunteers from seven Bay Area counties journey to our ranch in the rolling hills of Nicasio Valley, Marin County. Here, trained horses, dedicated volunteers, and skilled staff work together to create safe, supportive experiences that carry our riders into the open landscape with confidence and dignity. By harnessing the unique connection between horses, people, and nature, Halleck Creek Ranch fosters independence, well-being, and belonging, not only for our riders, but for their families and caregivers as well.
As one of the largest and longest-running weekly adaptive riding programs in the Bay Area, Halleck Creek Ranch is proud to be a leader and pioneer in the field of equine-assisted services.
2027 will be our 50th year of operation and we have big plans for the future! Read about our RockRose Re-imagination Initiative.

Our Mission
At Halleck Creek Ranch we educate and inspire all to live a life without barriers. Our highly trained staff and dedicated volunteers empower people with disabilities through adaptive horseback riding and equine-assisted learning programs, offered in a beautiful, natural environment. Our programs nurture physical and mental growth, support families and caregivers, and foster inclusion and community.
Our Vision
We invite people with disabilities, and their families, to live a “life without barriers” through the beneficial activity of equine assisted activities and adaptive horseback riding. Halleck Creek Ranch focuses on what individuals can do. We work with our participants and their caregivers to identify their personal goals and develop lesson programming to achieve these goals through the support of our incredible community of team members, volunteers, and horses, allowing our participants to reach beyond their disability, and celebrate their capabilities. We create meaningful equine-assisted experiences while connecting persons with disabilities to the beautiful outdoors.
